Average retail gasoline prices in New Hampshire have fallen 2 cents per
gallon in the past week, averaging $3.62 per gallon Sunday, according to
GasBuddy’s daily survey of 875 gas outlets in New Hampshire.
In
Maine, average retail gasoline prices in Maine fell 0.9 cents per gallon
in the past week, averaging $3.72 per gallon Sunday, according to
GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,228 gas outlets in Maine.
This
compares with the national average that fell 2.3 cents per gallon in the
last week to $3.59 per gallon, according to gasoline price website
GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in New
Hampshire during the past week, prices Sunday were 18.9 cents per gallon
lower than the same day one year ago and 2.2 cents per gallon lower
than a month ago. Prices in Maine as of Sunday were 21.3 cents per
gallon lower than the same day one year ago and 1.8 cents per gallon
higher than a month ago.
The national average has not moved during the last month and stands 22.3 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
“Gas price limbo has continued for another week, with average prices
across the United States virtually the same as they were a month ago,”
said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Opening week
for football certainly brought more excitement than we’ve seen at the
gas pump lately, but one thing is for sure — with gas prices averaging
22-cents per gallon lower than last year, there’s a lot of extra hot
dogs and beer that can be consumed instead of being redirected into the
tanks of American motorists. While the situation in Syria bears further
monitoring, and hurricane season remains on the radar, we’ve still seen
prices continue to hold level. In fact, the cumulative yearly average
for a gallon of gas stands at $3.57 per gallon, compared to one year ago
when it was $3.62 per gallon, so while motorists feel this has been a
bad year for gas prices, it hasn’t been as painful as 2012,” DeHaan
said.
